HYBRID BATTERY HOIST
CHALLENGE: An automobile manufacturer needed a means to lift large hybrid vehicle batteries out of a dunnage rack and transport them to other process areas. The dunnage rack held a number of batteries and clearance between the batteries was limited.
Click to Enlarge	SOLUTION: A custom-designed lifting jig uses narrow fingers to reach between the batteries in the dunnage rack. The manually triggered pneumatic fingers pivot into place under the battery to lift it out. Hoist controls incorporated into the jig give the operator complete control over the handling process, while sensors ensure that the battery cannot be released from the jig while suspended in the air.
