DIFFERENTIAL TIGHTENING STAND
CHALLENGE: An automobile manufacturer needed a way to securely hold a vehicle differential during the final torquing operation on the three bolts which hold the mounting bracket. High tightening torque on the bolts also necessitated a means to isolate the torque reaction of the driver tool from the operator.
Click to Enlarge	SOLUTION: A custom-designed fixture with manual clamps holds the differential securely once it is transferred from its shipping container (see also the Differential Hoist). The driver tool is mounted to an X-Y sliding nest which allows free movement of the tool while still accomodating the torque reaction. (see video below)
